2015 Virgo New Moon-Solar Eclipse – The Call of Duty

grunge-frame-of-sunrays_MJtGuC5d - graphicstockThis September 2015 New Moon in Virgo kick-starts us into some pretty intense energy of self-reflection & healing. This lunar phase goes exact on Saturday 12th September at 11:41p PDT at 20.27° Virgo and is also a partial SOLAR ECLIPSE! (only seen by southern Africa & Antarctica).

With any solar eclipse, the Moon partially or fully blocks the light from the Sun, creating a shadow of darkness which adds intensity to the light that does come shining through around the shadow. Though some things may remain hidden, there is a strong possibility that some unexpected events may come to the surface, leaving a lasting impression. If the revelations are difficult, there is a chance these impression may burn and hurt us.

With that said, this New Moon in Virgo wants us to look at how we’ve been practically dealing with our day-to-day. Virgo wants us to bring our issues to the ground and find effective solutions to any problems we have in our life. Ruled by Chiron (contemporarily) and Mercury (traditionally), Virgo has the sheer intelligence and healing ability for finding the perfect and practical solution for anything. In this sense, we’ll need to truly analyze what we’ve been spending our days doing and if those things are directed to our highest and greatest good. Continue reading

2015 Sun Conjunct Jupiter in Virgo – Work, Serve, and Grow

spring-sprout-vector_G1Hmqlwu - graphicstockThe Virgo Sun will bring the current status of our daily lifestyle operations to light – the best and the worst of the current operations will be seen as the glory and/or the horror that they are. Nothing remains hidden in the light of the Sun. We will see how the mundane, everyday routines, systems, and processes of our lives are actually functioning.

Virgo Jupiter will bring practical and purposeful expansion, and it will expand whatever is already in place. This is why it’s important to look at and truly see what is happening in this moment right now – whatever we are giving our energy and effort to is growing and expanding.

As the Sun and Jupiter combine their energies, it is an excellent time to notice the practical functionality of our own individual everyday lives as well as the daily operating procedures of the world around us in order to ask ourselves if we are truly making life easier or healthier for ourselves. Are our lives really functioning in healthy and healing ways? Are we really being of practical and purposeful service to ourselves and each other?

This Virgo Sun-Jupiter conjunction is felt from 24th-29th August 2015, but the transit is exact at 3:02p PDT today, 26th August 2015 – a numerological 6 universal day. Six is maternal and/or healing energy – a.k.a. “mommy energy” – and under the influence of Virgo, six wants to improve things. Virgo 6 works to solve problems in the everyday routine of life. Its objective is to nurture and restore the mundane operations of everyday life to their functional best – healed, healthy, efficient, and effective.

Much like a mother giving her nurturing energy to her child, we are nurturing certain elements and aspects of our lives by giving them our effort and energy. That which is given attention, energy, and effort will grow and expand. What isn’t given attention, energy, and effort to will diminish and decrease.

One word which sums up attention, energy, and effort is…WORK!

That’s right. Whatever you are putting your attention, energy, and effort into is what you are working for and toward in your life.

However, in the majority of the world, we have been conditioned us to perceive and believe work to be an exclusively external thing – externally focused and projected. Yet we often fail to recognize that our outward projections of effort and energy come from within us! The results on the outside are reflecting the energy and effort we are applying within ourselves!

We often think that hard work means do more externally – longer hours, harder labor, more complicated systems or processes, more money or materials, etc. Yet we fail to see that right now, the work we individually and collectively need to do is more internal than external. During this 2015 Virgo Sun period and especially under the influence of this Sun-Jupiter conjunction, we also get to look within ourselves to learn and understand what is (and isn’t) driving our external efforts in order to make our external efforts more practically efficient, effective, and purposeful.

We are now waking up to the fact that effective and productive external work is the product of effective and productive internal work. Therefore, we get to look at how we each and all go about applying our resources and efforts to create and manifest the lifestyles we want to live.

On an individual level, this means that you get to take a closer look at how you choose to practice life. Think about that for a moment – really.

  • What or who are you putting your energy into?
  • How are you going about the day-to-day of your life?
  • Why are you doing the work you are doing?
  • What is your intention in doing the work you are doing? What do you hope to accomplish?
  • What or who are you working for? Is it for yourself, for others, or both?
  • What or who works for you in your life? What or who doesn’t work for you?
  • Are you putting effort into something that works for you…or maybe doesn’t work for you?

Those questions are paramount at this time because whatever (or whomever) you are giving your energy and attention to will indeed grow and expand…for better or worse. Therefore, it’s important that whatever you are putting work into is something and/or someone you want to have a growing and expanding presence or influence in your life for the better.

Consider the people and projects which support, encourage, and nurture your healing, health, and wellness; make the day-to-day needs of your life simpler and easier to meet or manage. Those people, projects, and practices bring joy and ease to your life, so there is joy in doing that work! That joy is what transforms work into service. Authentic service is what nurtures lasting growth and expansion.

Wherever and however you authentically serve is where and how you reap lasting rewards.

  • For those of you who have been doing your internal work, your rewards may begin to make themselves known today.
  • For those who begin or do your internal work today, you will likely begin receiving rewards for your efforts in the near future.
  • For those of you who are aware of yet resist doing your internal work, you may find that it’s getting harder to continue as you have been and that you may be making it harder do the internal and external work later. Things may become more complicated or you may be more entangled in your difficulties than you are right now.
  • For those of you who have no idea that you have work to do, you may begin to realize that you might actually be responsible for some if not all of you current life circumstances. Once you start to see how your work affects your life, you may recognize a need to make some changes in your life.

Doing the internal work requires that you face the reality of your life. Not the ideal you’re hoping will become reality, but the practical and tangible reality of what you are living and dealing with right now. You will need to see yourself and your daily life and lifestyle in real, practical, tangible terms. If you’re not willing to let go of your ideals to face the reality of what-is, this Sun-Jupiter conjunction may be a very difficult time for you.

Yet if you are willing to face and accept the practical reality of your everyday life at this time, you may find that opportunities for you to progress forward and upward begin to appear. The doors open to those who are willing to open them – if you are clear and serious about your desire for healing and wellness for yourself and all around you, though it may be difficult to face some hard truths at first, you’ll likely find that optimism gradually emerges and begins to influence your life perspective and choices. Your life has purpose when you’re clear about the work you get to do, and purpose brings joy, and joy brings authenticity to your practical works and service.

Work, serve, and grow. That is the message of Sun conjunct Jupiter in Virgo. take time to look at yourself and your life, and figure out how to make this the reality of your life…and experience the growth and expansion of joy in your life.

2015 Mercury and Jupiter in Virgo – Practical Magic

In the last few days, there’s been a palpable shift toward the practical.

As we move just beyond the Leo Sun’s halfway point, we’re already starting to feel the practical, grounding energy of Virgo.

Virgo is mutable earth energy and is the sign of the practical healer. It addresses the functionality of our daily lives – everything that makes our daily lives work. This is the sign of health and wellness, of practical service, and of systems and processes. Whatever works is sustained. Whatever doesn’t work is adjusted until it does work.

Our introduction to this hands-on energy began when Mercury entered the sign of Virgo at 12:15p PDT on Friday, 7th August. When it did, it shifted the focus and intention of our thoughts and words to the real world day-to-day operations of our lives. Continue reading

August 2014 – A Numerological 6 Universal Month – The Stage Parent and The Fixer

***Author’s Note***:Normally, I keep the numerological reports in the Life By Soul monthly e-zine which is exclusive to members of the Life By Soul mailing list.  However, I feel like it’s important to publish this today.  Most of this information is copied directly from the 2014 Leo E-Zine, so if you like what you read here, you may want to sign up for the monthly e-mailing.  And for those of you who already subscribe to the e-zine, I hope this post is more a reminder than redundancy, and there is some new stuff to preview the upcoming 2014 Virgo Sun Period.

The shameless promotion of the e-zine is now complete.  Now for the good stuff…

Today, the 1st day of August 2014, is not only the busiest astrological day of the 2014 Leo Sun Period.  It also brings a numerological energy shift from Leo 5 to Leo 6 Sun energy.  When we enter Leo 6 numerological energy for the month of August 2014, we may notice that there is moderate shift of focus to a more emotional motivation for garnering attention and instigating drama.

6 is the “mommy energy” of numerology, calling for nurturing, caring, and protecting. It is also the number of healing and wellness, and can be very practical in its approach to finding solutions to any problems or issues with efficiency or effectiveness.  6 energy likes to make sure things work so that life works as they believe it should. New Moon in Virgo – Plans Worth “Dying” For

In the wake of the Virgo Sun trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn earlier in the week, the Virgo New Moon arrives at 4:36a PDT on Thursday, September 5th, to help us starting putting our new plans to work.

The shallow explanation of New Moon in Virgo is that it is an opportunity for you to set plans in motion that help improve your life’s functionality.

The deeper explanation of New Moon in Virgo is that it is an opportunity for you to set plans in motion that help you to heal old wounds and bring forth solutions to long-standing problems.

It is my observation and experience that Chiron – “The Wounded Healer” –is the ruler of Virgo. That said, when the New Moon occurs this sign, there is an opening for emotional healing to occur.  Couple that with the fact that the Moon will also trine Pluto as it approaches its maximum New Moon phase, and there is especially transformative emotional healing potential available during this 2013 Virgo New Moon.

But in true Plutonic fashion, the healing can only occur when something is released or destroyed in order to clear the way for the healing to begin.  Transformation is a process of dying in order to be re-born, and in the case of this particular Virgo New Moon trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn, there is a phoenix that gets to rise from the ashes of the old standards and transitions of living.  This phoenix energy is what is at the core of the intention and/or plan you’ve hopefully created to help you move forward on your life’s journey.

By just solving your problem on the surface, you may ease present tensions, but those tensions are bound to arise again because the root cause of the problem has not been addressed and dealt with.  The next time something pokes at the root of the problem or wound, those same old tensions will surface again.

Through the deeper healing and problem-solving process, you are facing, dealing with, and healing the problem at its roots, you can ensure that they will not be able to be triggered again.  Instead of it sucking you back into the depths of darkness and/or a disorganized and dysfunctional day-to-day experience of your life, you are able to overcome that past and build a more reliable daily operating system for your life based upon healed wounds and the absence of the problem.  You have a clean slate to build upon.

Of course, the phoenix process is challenging to most of us for one major reason: in order to be re-born, a part of us must die.  This is where things get complicated.

When considering what needs to go, you may want to consider what Virgo represents.  It represents how you go about being of service to yourself and others on a daily basis.  It deals with the details of your basic operating systems – mentally, physically, and worldly – and health and wellness are priorities in this area simply because your physical body and your whole being have to be functioning well in order to support your functionality in day-to-day life.

That said, when applying New Moon in Virgo trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn to your own life, you may want to look at which standards, structures, or traditions are you living by that are outdated or otherwise no longer serve you well.  Especially if you notice that your own physical health and well-being are compromised in your day-to-day life, you may consider withdrawing from things that drain your energy or remain the same despite your efforts to change them.  You may also look to some of your emotional issues as your physical health challenges or your difficulties in attending to certain matters in your life may be rooted in those.

Once you identify what is causing the challenge, then comes the hard part – choosing to let go of the struggle.  You may be saying, “Of course I want to let it go!  It’s holding me back!”  Yet when you’ve grown accustomed to living with a particular wound or a problem, it may be quite a task to imagine living a life without it.  Releasing it or letting it die can be very confronting when you’ve identified yourself with the pain and suffering for such a long time.

However, is the symbolic death of your old, dysfunctional everyday reality worth the new, healthy, and functional daily life that emerges from it?  That is the question you get to answer for yourself as you step into the energy of this 2013 New Moon in Virgo.  You may find that the simple and practical plans you have made in order to move forward in your life may well be worth dying for.

Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers.  Until next post…

Mercury Conjunct Sun in Virgo – Aligning Your Mind With Your Practical Reality

After a few weeks of having your mind focused on how to shine your unique expression of Light, now your mindset shifts to the workability of your everyday life.  Mercury entered Virgo yesterday at 3:36p PDT, quickly moving you into awareness of the practical reality of your life.
Today at 1:56p…

Mercury Conjunct Sun in Virgo – Aligning Your Mind With Your Practical Reality

After a few weeks of having your mind focused on how to shine your unique expression of Light, now your mindset shifts to the workability of your everyday life.  Mercury entered Virgo yesterday at 3:36p PDT, quickly moving you into awareness of the practical reality of your life.

Today at 1:56p PDT, Mercury conjuncts the Sun in Virgo, providing you with an opportunity to align your mind with the truths revealed by the Sun’s Light about the real state of your daily life and lifestyle.

Virgo innately understands that without health and wellness, without clear plans and guidelines, without resources used effectively and efficiently, without getting to the root of problems to heal or solve them at their sources; things simply cannot work.  Even if they seem to work at first, any inauthenticity or compromise will eventually throw a wrench into the system or process.

Virgo helps you realize that the day-to-day of your life needs to be functional and healthy in order to support your ability to shine consistently, courageously, and with credible strength.  With the Sun and Mercury conjunct in Virgo, this is a brilliant time to get real with yourself about the reality you are living now.  Once you see yourself as you truly are right now and your life for what it is right now, you can appropriately assess whether or not you’re satisfied and happy with what you learn to be true.

If you are satisfied and happy with the present circumstances of your day-to-day life, you get to enjoy this moment of realizing that you have created a solid foundation for your life and that it supports you in living your inner truth.

If you’re not satisfied or happy with the present circumstances of your life, you get to see where your thoughts and communications fail to line up with your practical reality.  Then you can create a plan to change the course of your life by allowing your inner truth to guide the way.

Under the influence of Sun conjunct Mercury in Virgo, there is no right or wrong here that is measured or judged by anyone but yourself.  YOU get to figure out what is right or wrong for you alone.  This is about you being given a flashlight (or in some cases, a floodlight) and recognizing the opportunity available now for you to find or continue along your way.

It is also important for you to recognize that during this Sun-Mercury conjunction in Virgo, the feedback of others around you can indeed be helpful and constructive.  Yet when you are operating from your emotional or psychological wounds, it may be difficult for you to see their words or actions as ways to become aware of the truth at hand for you.  If you only see or hear criticism and judgment, be aware that it may be a reflection of your criticism and judgment of yourself.  Distinguish your negative response as an indicator that can guide you directly to the wounds you need to heal within you in order to restore health and wellness and workability to your life.

The influence of this 2013 Virgo Sun-Mercury conjunction can be felt August 20th through August 27th.  Use it to your advantage.  Take this time to get real with yourself.  It could prove to be more valuable to you in the long run than you could ever imagine.

Thank you for reading and sharing Signs and Numbers.  Until next post…

2013 – The Year of Love…and Mothers

I’ve shared with you the astrological dynamics of the beginning of this New Year in the recent blog posts and in the e-zine for the month of Capricorn 2012-13.  However, I’d like to get more in-depth about the numerology of 2013.

2013 is a Universal 6 Year, numerologically speaking.

6 is an energy of nurturing, caring, and protecting.  It is a maternal energy, and it tends to be emotionally based.  It is also associated with healing and wellness.  Many people who have this influence in their natal charts tend to be drawn toward professions or activities that encourage and support good health.  These could be roles such as nurses, psychotherapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, nutritionists, etc.  Generally speaking, 6 is a number inclined to roles and professions in which they can provide nurturing, caring, and loving service to others.

The good news about this influence is that it can prove to be very nurturing and healing.  6 could very well be called “The Love Number” because it is that geared toward providing whatever is needed for others to feel emotionally cared for.  In my practice, I tend to call 6 energy “Mommy Energy”, as it can represent maternal energy at its best and worst.

This is a great energy to have present coming out of all of the changes during our previous 5 Universal Year.  Some of those changes were pretty intense, and some healing energy is definitely welcome now.  In this 6 Year, It would be wise for people to seek out others who can help them come to terms with the challenges they face as result of these changes – to help them adjust to the new landscapes of their lives.  Others may do best being of loving and nurturing service to others, finding that being nurturing and healing for others proves to be healing for their own hearts as well.

The challenge with this influence is that like a mother protecting her child, people may protect their “loved” interests or their loved ones with great ferocity.  The concept of “circling the wagons” is how this influence will show up for some.  It could also show up as over-protection of loved ones, and disrespect for privacy or personal boundaries may be seen as “necessary” in order to protect one’s emotional interests.

There could also be some “tough love” dealt out, with less warm and fuzzy being shared and more pushing loved ones out of the nest in order to break emotionally clingy or dependent ties.

Either way, there are usually good loving and nurturing intentions here – after all, it is a mothering influence.  But for all their good intentions, sometimes mothers make some not-so-good choices.  We will definitely experience both the good and the not-so-good this year.

In personal matters, there are people who will either have a need for loving care and nurturing awakened in them, or who will find themselves very uncomfortable with allowing others to care for, nurture, or protect them.

For those who awaken to a need for this energy, these individuals will either seek out others who will provide them with this loving and nurturing care or they will seek out others they can provide this care to.

With the latter, the helpful element is that they can provide much-needed healing service to others at this time – helping others become healthy and well, developing within them the confidence and courage to move on with their lives.  The challenging detail here is that they may be so caring and nurturing, they could end up smothering or controlling those they care for – becoming over-protective and dependent on those they “need” to take care of to the point where they don’t allow their loved ones to grow up or develop independence and self-responsibility.

With the former, they are often the recipients of this type of care and nurturing.  Their openness to receive can be as healing for the ones giving them that care.  However, like the caregivers, the receivers can become dependent and not be willing to further develop their independence or growth.  They may seek out protection and control of others, giving up their personal power to others in order to avoid taking responsibility for themselves.

On the uncomfortable side, these individuals may feel they are giving up their individuality and freedom in allowing others to care for them or in having to take care of others. “Smothered”, “controlled”, or “manipulated” are usually words used by these individuals who are deeply afraid of being or becoming dependent on others.  These people may find themselves having to confront their issues around loving relationships with family and close friends.  Some will find themselves unable to make a healthy shift, pushing away others who try to love or care for them – like a turtle or a crab, they will withdraw into their shell to “protect” themselves from being emotionally vulnerable to others.  However, others may turn a corner and open themselves up to healthy emotional vulnerability.  In doing so, they may very well experience an appreciation for receiving and/or giving loving care and protection like they never have before.

On a larger scale, this 6 Universal Year energy could show up as corporations, governments, and other large institutions making major strides to care for and nurture their employees or citizens.  There could be some very humanitarian or philanthropic efforts and acts to be of service to as many people as possible in the most positive, healing, and healthy ways.  There will be acts of protection and provision that may be much needed and welcomed by its recipients.

However, these large scale acts and efforts could just as well result in the eliminating of public privacy safeguards or eliminating or overstepping legal boundaries in order to provide this “protection” or “service” to others.  This type of protection and nurturing can be detrimental as it creates either dependency or abandonment dynamics in cultures and societies.  Individuals within these social structures may find themselves at the mercy of the larger entities, feeling like they are being forced into circumstances they don’t want to be in yet feeling obligated to comply.  This has been occurring in some ways for a while now, but be prepared to see it and feel the effects of it (and responses to it) far more clearly in this 6 Year.

2013 starts off with January 2013 being a 7 Universal Month, meaning that there is a thoughtful, analytical, and somewhat introverted energy in the air.  Many of us will be thinking about the year we are coming out of, and thinking just as much if not more about what we are creating for this New Year.  We will also be observing and taking note of what is happening around us.  With the 6 energy of the Universal Year, we are probably going to look at what supports, nurtures, and cares for us both on the personal/private and external/public levels of our everyday lives…and more important, the balance of provision and self-responsibility.

February 2013 will be an 8 month, and in that month be prepared to see some actions taken in order to claim power, position, and control.  Much like December 2012, there will be some intense dynamics, but this time around they are likely to involve individuals coming together to champion larger causes and concerns that are humanitarian or philanthropic in nature.

All in all, 2013 will provide us with many opportunities in a grand variety of ways on many different levels to help each of us assess and re-define what Love is and how Love is expressed in our lives.  I hope this article gives you some valuable insights for the early part of 2013.  There will be more to come over the coming weeks and months.

Wishing you all the best for 2013!

Mercury in Virgo – Keeping Your Eyes on the Prize

Mercury enters Virgo this evening, August 31st, 2012 at 7:33p PDT.  With it comes a shift in our mental and communicative focus – away from the attention we draw to ourselves and what we reveal ourselves to be, and toward the implementation of the plans we have been creating to align our lives with the Truth of who we are.

Virgo is about organizing, systematizing, and practical implementation.  It is also about healing and wellness, clearing out what is toxic to us and bringing things back into integrity and good health.  Its practical and purposeful nature often associates Virgo with your works, service, and daily routine.

Mercury joins the Sun in the sign of Virgo for an amplification of this practical and purposeful energy.  With our minds and communications now shifting into this realm, you are likely to see a stark contrast between the theatrical drama of Leo we’ve been experiencing over the last few weeks and the nuts and bolts approach of Virgo.  Things will almost suddenly become pretty simple and straight-forward, and there will be a more cut-and-dried approach to getting things started and/or done.  There won’t be much tolerance for drama or excess over the next few weeks.  If it isn’t effective or efficient, it’ll probably be discarded or ignored. The intention in the next couple of weeks is to “keep your eyes on the prize”.

That said, Mercury’s journey through Virgo this time around will be a quick and useful one – it will be in direct motion its entire time in Virgo, moving into Libra on September 16th.  Ideas and thoughts and our communications of them will likely be clear, concise and very deliberate.  They will also serve the dual purpose of 1)  helping us implement plans and intentions, and 2) healing the wounds that may surface as we start letting go of all that no longer serves us well.

This Virgo 5 Sun-Mercury cycle is a time of clearing away who and what distracts, discourages, or otherwise detriments us in the pursuit of our goals and dreams.  We clear away the negatives to create space for all that is practical, tangible and positive to come into our live to assist us with the manifestation of our plans and intentions.  Though there will be some tangible and physical actions taken, the majority of this work done during Mercury in Virgo will be done through words more than any other means.

Some questions to consider over the next 16 days:

  • Who and what supports you in “winning the prize(s)” in your life…and who and what seems to distract you or take you away from it?
  • What do you need to get what will support or encourage you in manifesting your goals and dreams? What and/or who stands in the way of getting what you need?
  • Is it really someone or something else, or it is your own beliefs and behaviors and thoughts that need to change?

We aren’t done with Leo entirely.  Venus enters Leo on September 6th, and will bring a little drama back into our lives as others begin to respond and react to the communications we make.  We are likely to have our ‘drama moments’ as well – after all, we aren’t the only ones who are making changes.

Everyone in our lives is under the influence of this Virgo 5 Sun-Mercury combination.  So we’ll need to deal with our feelings and thoughts about being on both the giving and receiving end of the changes we are all undergoing.  For some of us who are already well-aligned with our inner Truths, the changes we are called to make may be small and barely noticeable.  But for some of us who have found ourselves to be more out of alignment with our inner Truths than we may like, we may find ourselves called upon to make some pretty major life changes in these next few weeks.  And of course, as we make these changes, they inevitably have an effect on not only us but those closest to us.  Our relationships will be affected, and the relationship effect will only be more pronounced once Mercury moves into Libra on the 16th.

But for now, we focus on implementing the details of our plans.  We focus on getting ourselves and our lives cleaned, cleared and organized for the new and wonderful people and things we are bringing into our lives – all of whom will help us “keep our eyes on the prize” so we may manifest and fulfill our goals and dreams.

Thanks for reading and sharing.  Until next post…
